Climate Action Network
YCI unites people across Canada to protect the planet through youth-led climate solutions. This looks like young people, government, organizations and the public coming together to accelerate the next wave of green innovation.

There is No Planet B
The Earth is changing fast, and the need for bold nature-based solutions has never been greater. Young people know that we need action, now more than ever before.
Over a billion young people are at extremely high risk from the climate crisis. They will inherit a planet with more frequent extreme weather events (UNICEF, 2023).
People globally are ready for their country to do more about climate change, with 69% saying climate change is affecting their big life decisions (UNDP, 2024).
In 2019 alone, over 7 million people joined climate strikes inspired by young leader Greta Thunberg and the Fridays for Future movement (Earth.Org, 2025).
Our Approach: Community-Driven Climate Innovation
With the increase in climate-related disasters, eco-anxiety and lack of environmental education, many young people are struggling to know what to do next.
YCI provides clear pathways for young people to turn climate uncertainty into concrete action for the future. This looks like:
- Accessing experiential training to build in-demand knowledge and skills
- Using human-centred design to ideate, build and deliver real solutions
- Having your voice heard by collaborating with local experts and policy makers
- Joining a community of like-minded peers and mentors passionate about generating change
- Jumpstarting your green venture or purpose-driven career to create impact for years to come

Recent Programs In Action
For several years, YCI has been expanding our Climate Action Network across Canada to accelerate young people’s ideas, solutions and voices for the planet. We have aligned with thousands of passionate youth from diverse backgrounds who refuse to be bystanders.

Climate Futures Lab inspired the next generation of green leaders and innovators through experiential climate education. The Lab equipped young people from both coasts of Canada with the skills, knowledge and confidence to design and execute their own climate projects. Funded by the Government of Canada, the Lab brought together leading social innovation organizations and municipal governments to inspire youth civic engagement and jointly implement creative, youth-led solutions to local challenges.
