- Commitment: 15 hours/week, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10AM – 6PM
- Compensation: $20/hour; 6 days of annual leave (3 days for contract period)

Position Summary
YCI is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations & Communications Assistant to provide support to YCI’s programs. This role will report to and directly support YCI’s management team. This opportunity is open to students, recent graduates and young professionals ready to start a career in the non-profit sector!
The ideal candidate will have strong coordination, creativity and technology skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include supporting operations and logistics across YCI programs, developing creative communications to share our impact and providing ongoing executive assistance to senior leadership. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth operational flow and quality outcomes across YCI’s global offices.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Support
- Provide operations support across YCI programs, including volunteer recruitment and onboarding, program logistics and documentation
- Assist with the planning and delivery of public engagement activities and events
- Support key operational processes including insurance, memberships/subscriptions and administrative contracts
- Help maintain a functional office space, including inventory and logistics for supplies and services
Communications & Resource Development Support
- Amplify YCI’s message and impact by interviewing stakeholders, writing blogs, creating e-blasts and completing graphic design for social media posts
- Draft creative content for a variety of communication channels such as social media, web, events and videos
- Maintain communications databases, including media library, program assets and digital metrics
- Support key resource development areas, including thematic research, funder profiles, grant proposals and tracking systems
- Support other communications and resource development tasks as required
Systems & Information Management Support
- Support the maintenance and optimization of tech tools and platforms (such as Airtable, SharePoint, Zoom, Canva, Slack and Mighty Networks)
- Streamline and maintain digital storage systems for program documentation, policies and tools
Management Team Support
- Provide assistance to the YCI management team, including tracking deadlines, scheduling, note-taking, briefing and action-tracking
- Support human resource functions, including recruitment, scheduling and record keeping
- Assist with the execution of Board meetings, including calendar invites, document preparation and maintaining meeting records to meet compliance standards
- Engage in additional special initiatives as assigned
Skills & Experience
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in program, communications or operations support roles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, AirTable, Zoom, Canva and similar platforms
- Tech-savvy with strong digital skills to learn and leverage YCI tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- People-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple, competing priorities
- Understanding of and commitment to YCI’s mission and values
- French language proficiency will be considered an asset
- Previous graphic design, social media and non-academic writing experience will be considered assets
- Must be available to work in person at the YCI Toronto office (577 Kingston Rd.)
