Youth across Ontario told us they want to better understand AI and use it in ways that matter for their careers and communities.
So we built something new. Skills Generator: Humans x Tech is a 10-week launchpad, co-designed with young people, to help you get ready for future jobs, while making real impact.
With our partners, we bridge the gap between AI tools and the human skills needed to use them ethically and effectively.

Through a curated series of workshops, mentorship and events, you’ll learn how to solve local challenges by applying new AI knowledge, a design thinking mindset and leadership skills.
Whether you want to jumpstart your career, meet new people or make a difference in your neighborhood, this program is for you.
In 2026, we are piloting the program in Markham and Vaughan, Ontario. But after that? We want to scale across Canada. Be sure to follow along for future cohorts in new cities!

Who
We are looking for diverse cohorts of young people who are...
- Between 18-24 years old
- Lives in York Region
- Can travel within York Region (small transit stipend provided)
- Has access to computer & internet (note if you need support in application)
- Available during full schedule
- Priority given for groups experiencing barriers to employment & education
- Open to all academic and work backgrounds
- No previous tech, leadership or other experience required!
What
You will build in-demand skills, knowledge and networks through:
- 1 Kick off session that includes an 'AI in Action' panel and networking event
- 6 interactive and engaging online workshops on AI foundations, ethical issues, critical thinking, design thinking and leadership
- 1 Solutions Lab event where you work with a team to rapidly solve a local issue using AI tools
- 1 AI for Good Pitch Day where you showcase your solutions and build community connection
- 1 Youth Consultation Meeting to share what you learn and give us your feedback and ideas to make it even better next time
