YCI advocates and participates in Development that enhances the capacity of people, in particular young people, to share visions and values, to deliberate together on the common good, to define goals collectively, and to build strategies and skills to reach them.
Our development experience says that it is impossible to promote this type of sustainable human development by conquering issues only in the South, or by working only with the poor. Building sustainable human development and global citizenship will require considerable changes within Northern societies and governments. We must affect trade and finance, consider consumption patterns, debate national and foreign policy, tackle issues in our own communities and consider our own practices in the global world.
