We are seeking passionate, creative, and highly adaptable young people, between the ages of 19-30, who are up for a challenge. During your International Internship, you’ll be working with our awesome partner WWFWorld Wildlife Fund Gabon works on sustainable management of forests, integrated landscape management, and community-based management. WWF Gabon’s works primarily at two priority sites: the forest landscape in northeastern Gabon, as well as the coastal landscape of the Gamba Protected Area Complex (GPAC) in the south.  


Responsibilities will include: 

  • Develop and implement a strategic communications and advocacy plan to achieve key objectives related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Gabon.
  • Conduct outreach to members of the government of Gabon, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development experts and regional and international NGO representatives, and private sector.
  • Develop and implement specific strategies and tactics for outreach to policymakers, potential advocates, and other stakeholders in the public, NGO, and commercial sectors.
  • Work to position and integrate the project into existing public, NGO, and commercial sector coalitions (as appropriate), and manage coalition relationships in collaboration with the in-country Director.
  • Closely coordinate media and advocacy activities to support the overall program plan.
  • Contribute to develop annual work plans, budgets, reports & document case studies and success stories.
  • Travelling as required to Gambia and Libreville in support of the advocacy strategy. 


Skills and Experience: 

  • Master’s Degree candidate in political sciences, communications, law or social science.
  • French fluency required.
  • Background in environment and/or biodiversity conservation preferred. 
  • Possess experience in designing and implementing advocacy programs.
  • Have experience working in government, NGO, private sector and donors as well as coalition partners.
  • Possess a good work ethic.
  • Be a team player and collaborative worker.
  • Good interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Possess some knowledge of the non-profit sector.
  • Be highly organized, capable of multi- tasking, and working under time pressure. 
  • Have at least basic presentation skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management abilities and organization skills.
  • Be a self-starter capable of working independently.
